It seems that when an artist wants to be controversial (s)he will resort to messing with Religion in any of its forms. That guy who burnt an antique Qur'an "in order to stop fundamentalism and homophobia", a Spanish photographer shooting models naked though in resemblance of Catholic icons of Christ, the Virgin Mary... and of course the absolutely lovable film by Derek Jarman on Sebastiane.
The latest case is this of Queensland
(Australia) artist Priscilla Bracks. Her work, along with that of Sydney artist Luke Sullivan have been entered into Australia's top religious art competition, the Blake Prize. Of course, she declares that "Absolutely not, no, no. I am not interested in being offensive. I am interested in having a discussion and asking questions about how we think about our world and what we accept and what we don't accept." Read the whole news .
